Projekt, jenž je základem těchto webových stránek, se zabývá rolí žen ve výtvarném umění za první československé republiky. Soustředí se jednak na mapování tvorby významných a neprávem opomíjených ženských osobností – především malířek a sochařek, ale také uměleckých kritiček – a jednak na kritickou, genderově orientovanou reflexi modernistického kánonu, jenž dodnes svazuje obsah a charakter dějin českého umění 1. poloviny 20. století. Z tohoto důvodu nejsou v projektu opomíjeny ani počátky ženské umělecké emancipace v době rodící se české moderny přelomu 19. a 20. století.
